How to Play Music Bingo

Listen for songs, mark the matching squares, and call bingo when you complete the pattern the host announced. Here is a whole sample round you can share.

Rules for this sample round

  1. Each player receives a card with song titles. The center is a free square.
  2. The host announces the winning pattern before the first call. For this round, any horizontal row wins.
  3. The host plays a short clip from music they provide and announces the song after the clip.
  4. Mark the matching song only if it appears on your card. Do not mark an unplayed square.
  5. Call “bingo” when your row is complete. The host checks every nonfree square against the caller sheet.

A visible sample

The host calls Billie Jean, Africa, then Dancing Queen. All three appear in the top row of the sample card, so that row is complete. The free center did not replace an uncalled song in that row.

Row

Top row: three squares across

Three adjacent squares across. The top-row example qualifies after its three songs are called.

Column

Left column: three squares down

Three squares down. If the host chose columns, the top-row sample would not yet win.

Diagonal

Diagonal: top left, free center, bottom right

Three corner-to-corner squares. The free center can count, but the other two must be called.

Incorrect claims and ties

If someone marks Thriller before it is called, that mark does not count. The host compares the claimed row with their caller list and asks the player to continue. If two people call bingo on the same song, use the tie procedure announced before play; for example, verify both and share the round win. These are suggested house rules, not universal official rules.

Offer a larger-print card, team play, slower clips or an announced song title when helpful. Keep the pattern visible and repeat the call for people who missed it.
